At FITI Schools, the Refrigeration & A/C Repair Technician Program gets you ready for a career in one of Florida’s most important trades—HVAC and refrigeration. You’ll pick up the technical know-how, mechanical skills, and real hands-on experience you need to handle everything from home air conditioners to commercial refrigeration systems.

You start with the basics: electricity, how circuits work, AC/DC power, electrical safety, and the role electricity plays in cooling and heating systems. You’ll dig into electric motors and controls, and you’ll learn the troubleshooting skills every HVAC tech needs on the job.

Once you’ve got the basics down, you’ll move into the heart of refrigeration. That means understanding pressure, temperature, heat exchange, different types of refrigerants, environmental safety, how to safely recover refrigerants, and how to diagnose system issues.

From there, you’ll get your hands on air conditioning systems—installing them, maintaining them, making repairs, and working with split systems, heat pumps, rooftop units, and packaged setups. You’ll also work with commercial refrigeration units, walk-in coolers, ice machines, and even household appliances.

By the time you’re done, you’ll have a well-rounded foundation in refrigeration, HVAC, electrical work, and—most importantly—practical, real-world training. You’ll walk into the field ready to get to work.
